A Change Is Gonna Come

November 5, 2025 by Eliot Duhan Leave a Comment

“ if there’s any way to defeat a despot, it’s by dismantling the very conditions that that allowed him to rise to power” says the next mayor of NYC

Lots of work left to do. Don’t mourn, organize.

Tuesday is Election Day. You are voting, right?

November 3, 2025 by Eliot Duhan Leave a Comment

Go vote.

Don’t say it doesn’t make a difference. Don’t say you don’t do politics.

Elections matter. They have consequences. Pop goes SNAP.

If a billionaire from out of state is spending millions of dollars to convince Philadelphians not to vote, who do you think he’s trying to help?

If not sure where to vote, check here: https://vote.phila.gov/voting/election-day/where-is-my-polling-place/

I’d tell you to vote to retain all PA judges, state and local. You can do your own research and see if you agree.

https://judges.philadelphiabar.org

or see what the candidates have to say: https://ballot.seventy.civicengine.com/ec/

Don’t tell me it doesn’t make a difference. Don’t tell me you don’t feel like it.

Let’s keep Pennsylvania working for Pennsylvanians and not for (NAMES REDACTED ON LEGAL ADVICE AND ALSO BECAUSE SINCE DARK MONEY IS ANONYMOUS, WE DONT KNOW FOR SURE)

We Are Not Alone

October 27, 2025 by Eliot Duhan Leave a Comment

One of the most important supports at any time of difficulty is knowing you’re not alone. Food for the hungry, blankets for the cold, comfort for the grieving, each is vital and each tells the recipient that they are not alone.

Divide and conquer is an old trick.

Let’s counter with “We are not alone.”

Join us at the Manayunk Bridge Garden Tuesday night for a joyful physical reminder.

Zine Swap Recap – Umbria Arts, Sunday, October 19

October 22, 2025 by Eliot Duhan Leave a Comment

“Swap Recap” should rhyme, right? But it doesn’t and mores the pity because the event rhymed.

Tomorrow Today is a few small square feet of amazing books and zines and music filling a corner room at 5100 Umbria, home to Dead King Bread and Manayunk Timber, both amazing places as well. On Sunday afternoon, T2 hosted a room full of printers and poets and artists, sweet ethereal sounds drifting about and amazing smells of coffee and savory masa discos.

Each and every one of these folks brought something legitimately beautiful and amazing. Inner Loop’s Risographs are testaments to urban hope, Paradise Editions’ new translations of Jaroslav Hašek’s short stories (bet you wouldn’t have guessed we had a Hašek translator in the neighborhood!), Clockface Press’s beautifully textured anthology magazines, Prayers’ delicate shirts and drawings.

And a zine swap table! I left a half a dozen i’d finished with and took a handful which i’m greedily devouring.

Let’s keep an eye on Umbria Arts. They’re an amazing space and are going to be a big plus for RoxYunk.

Take a look at all of these. You’ll be glad you did.

Bonus Shout Out for – Underground Press

I’d meant to connect Underground Press, another RoxYunk generator of poetry and art as these folks are their colleagues in arts and arms and should have been there. But I didn’t so I’m calling them out to you all to have a look, They believe in the physical artifact which makes them aces in my book. Take a look. https://undergroundpress.ink/
