DESCRIPTION:The Wissahickon in March with Debbie Hoellein\, Jim McClory\, and Trish Fries\n\nFriday\, March 27 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm\n\n\n\n\nMeeting at Northwestern Ave and Forbidden Drive.\nThere is nearby parking at the Northwestern Avenue Parking Area.\nPlease note that there will not be porta potties available at Northwestern since they’ve been removed for the winter. \nJoin Debbie\, Jim\, and Trish as we hike the northern part of the Wissahickon in March. We’ll be staying on the north side of Bells Mill Road\, walking in Andorra Natural Area and on the Orange Trail on the east side of the Wissahickon Creek. We’re excited to have Trish lead with us and share her knowledge of the area. Our route includes both loops in Andorra Meadow and the wooded area and passes the benches of 3 special people. We’ll see the remnants of the nursery Andorra once was and may even try out some magnets as we approach Bells Mill. And of course\, there are always points of historical interest. \nThe route includes a steep incline in Andorra Natural Area and a particularly rocky area on the Orange Trail\, so be prepared. There is an option to avoid the rocky area by walking back on Forbidden Drive\, but you will miss seeing one of Thoreau’s favorite plants. \nChildren over 12 years of age are welcome when accompanied by an adult\, but\, please—no dogs except for service animals. \nDistance: 4 miles \nLevel: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces) \nAudience: 12 years old and up \nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. \nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks.
