I’ll spare you the full story of wandering into a broadway dive bar and being astounded at the musicality of this band stuffed into a booth by the window (putting circus contortionists to shame) and just urge you most strongly to take the 9 bus to 4th and walnut and stroll down to Headhouse. They’re really good. Rae The Band.
Regular RoxYunk Centric programming will resume with the next post.
Come out on Friday morning for about the most RoxYunk thing there is or ever will be: The July 4th Lyceum Parade.
9 am. Bring a folding chair and maybe an umbrella for the sun.
See you there!
The city’s biggest union is on strike. Many city services will slow or halt.
It’s important to remember this is not a decision taken lightly by the union. The strike is a result of two sides failing to come to an agreement.
In the meantime, here’s a pretty good summary of what to know about city services during this event. https://whyy.org/articles/philadelphia-largest-union-first-strike-40-years/
Support your neighbors, support workers.
Lots of cool stuff in RoxYunk and nearby,

Saturday, one of the best days in the whole RoxYunk year: Ben Arnold’s Summer Solstice Music Festival at Gorgas Park.
It’s never a bad idea to head to the Dawson Street Pub. Sock Revival, Nervous Nikki, will prove that to be true Saturday at 8.
And as every Saturday, Pretzel Park Farmers Market from 10 – 2.
Sunday afternoon, come celebrate New Ridge Brewing Co.’s Fifth Anniversary with music and (of course) beer. 3-6 at the Roxborough Pocket Park.
Sunday at 6, The Fallser Club open mic is wide open for your open mic pleasure.
As always, check https://roxyunk.org/ for up to date what’s going on and don’t be afraid to jump into the RoxYunk discord. https://discord.gg/ZuUzgN3n
So, as it says on the RoxYunk summer poster, Thursday nights are “Come and Find Me”. I’ll be out there somewhere, doing something. If you find me, I’ll read you a poem or tell your fortune or sing a song with you. Maybe a beer or summat.
Going forward, this will probably be a puzzle or a scavenger hunt or some other thing but tonight, just come find me at the Foodery at 7:30 ish.
